Chicken Fried Steak

You know your meal was success if your 15 year old son said "I ate so much I don't think I can move".  Seems anything I make will be rejected by at least one member of the household. But when everyone eats, and eats some more and keeps saying "yum" "mmmm", well you know you've hit a home run.  The men in my life have always been meat and potato guys. Now is no different.

So for last nights dinner I made Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn.  The recipes for the steak and corn were taken from Pinterest. The steak recipe is from Rae Drummond, The Pioneer Woman. Rae makes some of the most delicious food and I'm happy to say it was no different in this case.  The only difference in the original recipe and mine was that I  don't tend to add as much if any salt (due to two people with hypertension in the household) and I tend to use lower fat alternatives where possible.

I most certainly give the recipe a big thumbs up.  The mashed potatoes were mine. It's a very basic recipe of yellow yukon potatoes mashed with butter, a little cream, salt and pepper.  I also used 1% milk in the gravy.   The way I cooked the corn was also from Pinterest.  Roasted in the oven. While it was a little stinky the results were excellent.  So give these a try. My family sure loved it!
