Hawaiian Roll Ham Sandwiches

OMG. I love Pinterest! There is no other place on earth where you can go and find yummy, family friendly food in large quantities. Again I admit, Full Fledged Foodie here!  So while trying to find something different, something yummy, something the boys would like, I came across this recipe on Pinterest.   I wasn't sure as some of the ingredients were a little iffy where the boys are concerned. When Brenden asked what the "sauce" was when we were shopping, I was as vague I as could be and still keep him interested in eating it. I didn't reveal all the ingredients to them and what they don't know, won't hurt them, or in this case keep them from eating it, they devoured them and I made double what the recipe called for.

Now as good as these are, in our house they will still be made occasionally due to fat and salt but I made one change to help with fat and overall, it was a lot less salty than I thought. So enjoy these. It's a cold night here in North Texas and these helped to warm up our tummy's and the house. Have a good week!

Hawaiian Roll Ham Sandwiches

2 packages of 12 Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
2 medium onions, chopped finely
1 stick butter
1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
6 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
4 Teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
6 Teaspoons poppy seeds
1 lb shaved ham
8 slices provolone cheese

Melt butter in skillet and add onions. Add mustard, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds. Stir well and simmer for several minutes.

Slice rolls as a group lengthwise and place bottoms on 2 large sheets of aluminum foil (enough so you can wrap each group snugly). Spread 3/4 of the mixture on the two sets of bottoms. Lay ham one slice at a time across each bottom. Lay 4 cheese slices across each bottom. Top with roll tops. Spread remaining onion mixture over tops of each set. Wrap aluminum up and seal by rolling aluminum at the sides and top.  Place eat set wrapped in aluminum on a cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes on 350 degrees.

These can be made in advance. Once you have them wrapped in aluminum, place in refrigerator until ready to bake.
