Today we are celebrating our Thanksgiving dinner. Several family members work on the actual day so we just move ours up. I posted on Facebook what I planned on serving and a friend asked for one of the recipes. So I'm posting one of my favorite green bean dishes. In fact I'll try and get as many of the dishes I'm making posted for you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Cajun Green Beans
1 green bell pepper finely chopped
1 medium onion finely chopped
4 strips of bacon cut in pieces
2 cups drained canned tomatoes (I use the diced no salt added ones)
2 cups drained canned green beans (I use the no salt added ones)
1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs
1 teaspoon worchester sauce
1/4 cup mayo
1/2 teaspoon salt (I'll omit this)
dash black pepper
dash cayenne pepper
1 small can sliced mushrooms
Cook onions, bacon and bell peppers on high in skillet for 5-8 minutes. Add drained tomatoes, simmer 5 minutes. Add green beans, mayo and seasonings. Mix well, but do not cook. Add mushrooms and mix in. Place in greased cassarole. Cover with bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.
